If you're not yet convinced that the River East neighborhood has arrived, management at the Art Center will try their hardest to alter that impression. The shiny red warehouse stretches a quarter-mile down Illinois Street, offering a world of diversions for visitors traveling between Navy Pier's rides and the AMC River East movie theater.
In the middle of every month, Gallery Nights shows off work from REAC's mini-mall of fine art: from Lora D. Art Gallery's renowned international collection to Inspire Fine Art's minimal, abstract work. Behind the storefront, more than 20 individual artists rent space and benefit from the Art Center's public relations and marketing staff.
Art at this building extends beyond the traditional categories. Fox and Obel's savory, pricey gourmet market is an anchor tenant and Kensington Fine and Rare Wines stocks the neighbors' cellars and keeps Gallery Night guests happy. Chicago From the Lake's architectural boat tours dock here, De La Costa restaurant brings Nuevo Latino cuisine from Miami to the lakefront, and cafes and spas are in the works.
The River East Concierge provides personal services in line with Michigan Avenue luxury properties, including event tickets, valets, dry cleaning and travel arrangements. For the right price, you can even have your wedding or black-tie affair in the Atrium.
