Editorial Review of Andies (Montrose)

If you're thinking about coming to Andies, be sure to come hungry. Portions here are generous, and if you order an appetizer, you may barely touch your main course. This friendly neighborhood place (the original location is in Andersonville) offers a wide array of Mediterranean fare, from baba ganoush to kabobs to shawerma.

If you can't decide what to order, a good place to start is the combination appetizer, consisting of hummus, falafel and spinach pie ($5.95). Feta fiends have plenty of options, too, including the feta and spinach stuffed artichoke ($6.95), feta and olives ($4.50) and the spinach and feta pie ($3.95 for the appetizer).

Moving on to entrees, the standard gyro platter is a safe bet, served with fries or rice and the all-important yogurt sauce ($9.50). Other meaty options include braised lamb shank, steak shish kabob and shawerma. Pita bread is served in a basket for a do-it-yourself effect. Various preparations of chicken are also on the menu, including Greek, Moroccan and Mediterranean varieties, and seafood options include white fish and salmon. Of course, there is plenty of vegetarian fare as well, including Moroccan eggplant with couscous ($9.95) and portabella over lentils and rice ($9.50).

The restaurant itself is two stories, with the top floor overlooking the room below. Outdoor seating is available in the summer, including two rattan lounge chairs perfect for sipping mojitos ($11 for a pitcher on Thursdays). Margaritas, sangria, beer and wine are also on tap, and all bottles of wine are half off on Tuesdays. If you don't feel like dining out, delivery and carryout are also available. A champagne brunch is served on weekends.

Average cost: $10-$20
