From the '50s-inspired argyle logo to the clean and crisp interior, this popular
Lakeview spot manages to accomplish three goals in one no-nonsense package: It's at once a large sports bar, martini lounge and neighborhood diner.
Ten large TVs are distributed throughout the tavern's two rooms, where seating is aplenty. The north room features a large bar and table seating, while the south room has a smaller bar and a handful of booths. Elsewhere, the sports theme is applied with the lightest of touches: tiny photographs of memorable sports moments and players peppered throughout the bar.
Eight signature cocktails include The Avenue, a tart concoction that combines Absolut Citron, Vox Raspberry, Blue Curacao and fruit juices; drop in on Wednesday and score a $5 martini (which regularly goes for $8). Large crowds might opt for the 80-ounce drink towers. Beers are reasonably priced — between four and six bucks apiece — with six brews on draft and a decent selection of bottles. A full food menu offers a wide range of sandwiches, salads and entrees, generally priced in the $6-$7 dollar range excepting the bourbon-marinated skirt steak, which will set you back $11.50.
DJs spin at the bar at regular intervals. Come Saturday DJ Dream plays a mix of hip-hop and dance favorites to enjoy along with your $2 Buds and Bud Lights.
