Editorial Review of Boni Vino

Fans of classic mob films like Goodfellas will get a kick out of Boni Vino. Since 1967, this family operation has been doing business – ahem, that's the restaurant business – with the same passion and flair. The jukebox still pumps Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and the Four Seasons, and the bar still has the same old-school charm with its dark brick walls, green leather booths and yellow glass ceiling lamps.

As you might expect from a classic Italian pizza place, Boni Vino offers a great value. A combination of mostaccioli, tortellini, or spaghetti with tomato, garlic, or meat sauce and meatballs or sausage will set you back 10 bucks. Italian specialties like veal or chicken parmigiana and linguine and clams sauce cost the same. If you're looking for the real deal, then split a 14-inch pizza for only $10-$15, or try an Italian meatball or sub sandwich for less than $10. All the food comes in ample portions and tastes homemade. You'll swear on your grandmother's grave you never ate so good.

The deals don't stop at the food. Any wise guy will tell you to order a full carafe of vino. For only $20, you’ll get more than you do in a bottle, which on average costs $22-$24. Plus, there’s the loudmouth, "I'm gonna hit you upside the head with a rolling pin if you ask one more stupid question about our bruschetta," service, which comes free. As they say, when you're at Boni Vino, you're family.

Average cost: $10-$20
