Editorial Review of Plan B Bar and Kitchen

If you find yourself out on Saturday night looking good and ready to party, but your bar or club of choice is so packed you can't get in, it's time to go with plan B. Don't have one? Then head to Plan B Bar and Kitchen, where you're guaranteed a night of fun in a chill setting.

The one-room bar caters to a young professional crowd sporting expensive jeans with sexy tops on the ladies and nice button-down shirts on the guys. If that's not your scene, the friendly staff will still make you feel welcome. Black chandeliers and textured wallpaper decorate the room; three flat-screen TVs hang above the bar in perfect view from a set of low leather couches. An elevated seating area and a DJ playing typical radio remixes, '80s tunes and rock favorites sit toward the back, where the bar's 'B' logo adorns the wall.

If you can, come hungry. While the food doesn't pose as fancy or flashy, items like garlic parmesan waffle fries ($5), cheese fondue ($7 per person) and the heart-attack burger—a half pound of beef topped with fried ham, bacon, Swiss cheese and hot sauce—will satiate any late-night cravings. Liquor lovers will find a seasonal list of specialty cocktails priced at $8, including the Old School-inspired Your Boy Blue with Stoli Blueberry, lemonade, Blue Curacao and soda. Beer drinkers have their pick of 12 bottles of beer and eight varieties on tap.

For the neighborhood's dwindling artsy inhabitants, Plan B probably won't become your first (or second) choice. Still, if you can't stand to go to Rodan or some other hipster joint, go with Plan B. It will surely suffice.

Average cost: $10-$20
