Rising from the gutters of drug dependence and homelessness, Brooklyn's Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson's brand of folk-rock is so bright and genuine that TV on the Radio's Kyp Malone demanded a hand in producing his self-titled debut. Known for pairing Neil Young sludge with unpolished choral arrangements, Robinson recently released Summer of Fear on Saddle Creek Records, which dresses up his brood and heartache with cleaner horns and keys - like a vagabond in a clean suit. Don't worry, though, this guy's still got plenty of soul. (Gavin Paul)
