What to expect: This indoor/outdoor market boasts high-quality merchandise in the Randolph Street market district. Expect nothing but the best in furnishings, housewares, artifacts, vintage clothing, jewelry, sterling, porcelain, lighting, ephemera and kitschy toys. Areas include the Chicago Antique Market, the Vinyl Swap Meet (rare LPs), the Fancy Food Market, the Global Goods Bazaar (showcasing items from Chicago's ethnic neighborhoods) and the Indie Designer Market (featuring local independent designers whose fashions are inspired by vintage and hand-made clothing combined with imaginative and trendy interpretations).
Additional info: 2009 weekends are May 23-24, June 27-28, July 25-26, August 29-30 and September 26-27. A free trolley will operate between the market and Water Tower Place, leaving the Water Tower at the top of each hour between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and departing the market at hour intervals between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
New areas include the Vinyl Swap Meet (rare recordings for collectors and music lovers), Fancy Food Market (featuring gourmet popcorn, truffles, olive oils and more) and the Global Goods Bazaar (with artisans representing Chicago's ethnic heritage). Classic cars and bicycles from the '60s and '70s will also be for sale.
