Editorial Review of Nana

This breakfast and lunch spot in Bridgeport is the brainchild of brothers Omar and Christian Solis. Their father Jose runs Tacos Erendira, located just up the street from Nana. Mother Maria has been pleasing palates for years as the pastry chef for Cuban-centric Cafe 28 in North Center.

With Nana, the Solis brothers are just keeping with the family tradition, with an assist from Maria Solis, who serves as hostess. Nana's dining room is sparse, with bright paint on the walls, copper light fixtures above the open kitchen and juice bar and large windows allowing every available beam of sunlight to reach inside.

The Solis brothers have placed an emphasis on organic food at Nana, adhering to the guidelines set by the USDA Organic Foods program. Juices are fresh squeezed, soups and sauces are made in-house and the potatoes for the fries and chips are cut by hand. Breakfast is the meal here, with a wide array of pancakes, skillets, omelets and eggs benedict. The "Nanadict" is a cheese-filled pupusa topped with poached eggs, chorizo and poblano sauce.

Lunch items include paninis, burgers and salads. Lines have been long since Nana opened, so be prepared to wait.

Average cost: <$10
